You can hire a car, take a bus or a train, and of course a taxi! If you were thinking of renting a car while on your Egypt holidays, you'll be pleased to hear that unlike the UK, Egypts' petrol prices are much cheaper!
Taxis: Taxis in Cairo are black and white - Luxor: blue and white. Make sure they are not fake taxis from their stamps on windows/dashboard. Tip: Taxi meters in Egypt are not used! The fare is usually stated when you get in the Taxi - do make sure this is pre-agreed before you get going in the Taxi. You can always ask at your hotel for fare prices.
There's a new taxi line of yellow cabs being introduced - so you can't miss them - they're air-conditioned too and have meters that work! Take note of this number you can call to order a taxi when in Egypt - 16516
Trains: You can buy tickets directly at the station but ensure you join the correct queue - they will be different depending on which class you wish to ride in, and where you want to go. If in doubt ask a local as they are usually very helpful. You can also have a travel agent buy them for you, incase you're worried about any confusion!
Buses: There are many famous and popular bus routes operated by more than one bus company (about seven) which run to all the popular destinations and long-distance as well.
Egyptian currency while on holiday! The Egyptian currency is the Egyptian pound (EGP or LE).
If, while on your Egyptian holidays you want to Pay by credit card please note that only the major touristy areas will accept credit cards - Visa, MasterCard, American Express, and Diners Club.
